| Weighing, loading, unloading, storage facilities, stackers,
reclaimers, and other mobile equipment are all parts of port and
terminal facilities. While ports and terminal facilities vary,
they normally require specific systems to manage their storage
options and maximise throughput and storage turnovers. Facilities
need to accurately weigh and sample material received and shipped,
as well as provide suitable methods for blending.
Marshalling bulk materials for transshipment between truck, rail,
and barge allows users to optimise their freight costs. Roberts
& Schaefer Company (R&S) has outstanding qualifications
and significant experience executing such complex projects. In
addition, an active working cooperation with our sister company
Soros Associates, Inc., enhances our "Full Service"
capabilities.
Two specific projects that support our expertise are shown below.
ILLINOIS RAIL MARINE TERMINAL
St.
James Parish, Louisiana
R&S created this facility for processing coal, Pet &
Met coke, iron ore pellets, and DRI. More than 16,000 conveyor
feet connect the travelling grab unloader, travelling ship loader,
barge loader, rotary car dumper, unit train batch weight load out and travelling stacker. In-depth
project information
SANDUSKY DOCKS CORPORATION
Dust
Suppression and Stormwater Management
Sandusky Bay, Ohio
R&S created an automatic dust suppression and stormwater management
system to resolve environmental concerns from open piles of coal
in ground level storage. Fugitive dust combined with stormwater
run-off created ponds that obstructed operations and might contaminate
the bay. In-depth project information
