Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare structural plans and specifications for industrial projects dealing with heavy bulk materials handling
  • Design and draft heavy materials handling structures
  • Assess and review designs created by engineers and AutoCAD drafters
  • Evaluate structural capacity of existing structures
  • Develop project work plans and execute within budget and scope
  • Estimate labor requirements, prepare budgets and schedules
  • Lead other engineers and designers through projects
  • Maintains state-of-the-art knowledge in all pertinent aspects of his/her discipline including design, analysis techniques, products, applicable codes and construction practices
  • Maintains competence in automated design

Experience Requirements

  • 7 - 10 years of structural steel or concrete design experience
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with design codes including AISC, ACI, ASCE and IBC design codes
  • Knowledge of and experience with shop detail design/ramifications
  • Heavy industrial experience knowledge

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred, but not required
