Roberts & Schaefer Company was awarded a contract from Ameren
Generating Company for the design, supply and erection of a new
coal handling system at the Coffeen Generating Station in Coffeen,
Illinois.
The project consisted of a series of new 800 tph coal conveyors
fed from three new 450 tph hammermill crushers. The conveyors
then feed a surge bin at the top of the silos. From the surge
bin, new posimetric feeders feed a series of new 600 tph conveyors
and upgraded trippers to four sets of coal silos for two boiler
units. Other improvements to the existing system included new
chute work, flopgates, and electrical devices.
