Roberts & Schaefer was awarded a contract from Sargent &
Lundy LLC to engineer, supply and commission two radial stacker
reclaimers and one travelling hopper to handle coal at the Huaneng
Power International Dandong Generating Station in Dandong, China.
The stacker reclaimers have a stacking capacity of 1800 t/hr and
a reclaiming capacity of 720 t/hr. The stacker reclaimer boom
is 100 feet long with a 21-foot diameter bucket wheel reclaimer.
The machine is capable of slewing a total of 270 degrees and can
travel more than 1000 feet over rails. Each machine has an on
board control cab and is completely controlled by a programmable
logic controller (PLC).

The travelling hopper is located on the dock and is designed to
be fed from self-unloading ships. The hopper capacity is 155 tons
of coal and incorporates four vibratory feeders each of which
is rated at 1000 t/hr. The vibratory feeders in turn feed dual
unloading conveyors, which send the coal through a series of conveyors
and transfers to the stacker reclaiming machines. The travelling
hopper can move over 375 feet on rails. The travelling hopper is
equipped with on board PLC and dust suppression systems.
