Under a turnkey contract, Roberts & Schaefer provided
all process design, detailed engineering design, procurement,
construction, commissioning, and start-up of the Mineral
Ridge Heap Leach and Carbon Absorption Plant near Silver
Peak.
A four-stage crushing circuit using banana screens crushes
ROM ore at a rate of 950,000 tpy, producing a consistently
sized 6-mesh ore. Conveyors deliver crushed ore to a heap
that is arranged in 80,000-ton cells. The ore is agglomerated
before being placed on the heap. After leaching, pregnant
solution is processed at a rate of 600 GPM, using carbon
adsorption and electrowinning to produce gold doré.
As part of the project, R&S furnished all associated
utilities and other facilities, including fuel, chemical,
water storage, and distribution systems, as well as the
plant's truck shop, warehouse, site office, and laboratory.
